Cooking across cultures – connecting people through food!
In good tradition of the Applied Nutrition and Food Sciencs degree program at Albstadt Sigmaringen University our students Florian Holzapfel and Günther Maier organized a cooking event for the international students visiting our university this semester.
Their goal: to build bridges — between cultures, between people, and with the region where our guests will spend the next six months. Cooking and enjoying food together helps create lasting connections and a true sense of community.
The event featured recipes from the Cooking Across Cultures Recipe Book, designed by Florian and Günther as part of their project work. The book showcases the diversity of traditional Swabian and South German cuisine — Maultaschen and Käsespätzle to Danube Wave and Swabian Potato Salad— and invites international students to explore the local food culture hands-on.
It was a great pleasure for Dr. Conny Bast from the International Office and for Prof. Astrid Klingshirn to accompany this inspiring project and witness how food can truly bring people together.
